I tried this restaurant today for the second time the food was absolutely horrible my mother cannot swallow the soup because I asked for one time and I dropped the gave her sweet and sour the chicken chow mein was horrible she couldn't even eat it I would highly recommend that you do not enter this establishment it was a waste of money overpriced and the food was disgusting. Nothing personal I'm just stating the facts. So overpriced for such bad food

First time dining in. Wanted to try a new Chinese location as supposed to my usuals. Came in for an early dinner, even made it for the early bird special, but our server forgot about us, because they had a pop and started seating him in the other room so we never saw him come to our table again. Not even our general area to flag him down. Was practically held hostage so that we could conclude our meal and pay the check. The food was delicious. However, there are other lovely Chinese establishments with better attentiveness I’d recommend. Like Mr Chens. Maybe today was a one off situation, but as far as first impressions go. Being forgotten definitely misses the mark.

First time there, was crowded and waited 30 minutes for a table. Learned after we got there they take reservations. Tables are VERY Close Together. Service was good. They seem to use MSG, we were all, 4 of us, very thristy with that taste in your mouth for about 2 hours after having dinner. Food quality was good, taste of food seemed to be off on every dish. Egg roll was soggy, nice fried rice and ice cream for dessert with fortune cookie. Dishes Ala cart seemed the right price but combination dishes were 20.95 to 25.95, not worth it even with soup, egg roll and ice cream.

Very very good food ..We have never been disappointed.. Everything is always fresh, hot nd delicious..We have been there for lunch nd dinner ..Dinner time is always crowded but definitely worth the wait ..they give you hot tea nd put the hard noodles with hot mustard nd duck sauce while you wait .Your meal usually comes with soup nd eggroll on most of their dishes..Soups are very good too..Their fried or steamed dumplings are a favorite of ours ..my favorite dish is Shredded Sechuan beef !!!! We've tried just about half the menu..all is good !!! You'll get a cup of ice cream too .Sometimes at lunch we've had a bit not so pleasant man ,I think because people come in very close to the lunches end time..They need to get ready for dinner ..Other than that we've had good service too .Take out is also available nd it's packed to perfection.. with all condiments and noodle tooo. Its a must !!!!

I loved my visit to Hunan Gardens Chinese Restaurant located in the BocaRay Plaza. My friend suggested an early bird dinner and I am always excited to see what she likes. Hunan Gardens is a family owned restaurant that has been in business for over 30 years. The classic Chinese restaurant decor is very elegant and the restaurant is impeccably clean. When I saw that the customers were skewing elderly I knew I was in for a treat because they always know the best places to eat. The early bird menu has a page full of meals that included an appetizer, soup, rice, main dish, and ice cream for dessert. You can also order off the main menu. We started with the delicious fried noodles that were brought to the table. This is something I frequently throw away with my take out Chinese food but here the large fried noodles are something to be savored with the mustard and duck dipping sauces. The pipping hot wonton soup that was served was swimming with two flavorful pork filled dumplings. For my main dish I had the delicious Happy Bird ($19.99), a dish made with crisp vegetables, beef, chicken, shrimp, and scallops. I paid the upcharge for the fried rice and was pleased with the amount of pork in it. Our meal also included a pot of tea which I enjoyed with my meal. Dinner ended on a sweet note with a dish of pistachio ice cream but if you are so inclined Lily's Handmade Ice Cream is in the same plaza. I was the envy of the teachers lounge when I whipped out my leftovers for lunch the next day. This restaurant easily stands with the best of the Chinese restaurants of south Florida.

Best authentic Chinese I’ve found in South Florida hands down. The food is always consistent and run by a husband and wife that are so friendly and treat you like family. I had no idea they’ve been in business sharing their amazing food for 25 years. Not surprised though. I’ll keep coming back!

This restaurant is nicely old school in decor, but it is immaculate. The service was quick and pleasant. The food is fresh, and tasty enough, but a little under seasoned for my taste. I also guess we have different definitions of "spicy"--so if you like spicy, ask them to be generous. I think they keep the seasoning light for the older clientele who might not have a tolerance for salt & spice. They do serve the wide crispy noodles and the mustard will clear your sinuses. The portions are generous, if not a little pricey (but everything costs more these days).

I ordered from their lunch menu and had a very tasty eggplant with garlic sauce. Not overly spicy or salty. It seemed to me to have been prepared with care and choice fresh ingredients. Same can be said of their fried rice with pork. Even the tea was delicious oolong. This was my first visit and it won't be my last. I forgot to mention that strict sanitary measures were conducted by the staff.

As good as the Chinese food was when our family grew up in the NY/Westchester area. Standard plain environment. Great noodles on the table with excellent hot Chinese mustard and duck sauce. The combination platters offer more than a full meal (Great hot and sour soup), very good egg roll, an entree, rice (which was just OK), and dessert (tasty chocolate ice cream - 2 scoops!) for less than $20. The shrimp and lobster sauce had easily 6 Jumbo shrimp, perfectly cooked, and really tasty. And, since it is a lot of food, they are quick to offer to-go containers as needed. Gotta be one of the best deals in town.

Wife and I tried this place last week. Spent $98.98 for 2 people. Asked for a glass of ice and manager/owner/village idiot charged us $3.50 for a glass of ice. Section 212.133 of Florida General Laws says if you have a liquor license you cannot charge for water. Oddly, if a restaurant doesn't own a liquor license they can charge for water. This fool has no clue how to deal with customers, hence 3.8 rating and food, at best, mediocre to terrible. RG

I have been to this restaurant many times and I have to say that this is the WORST experience I have ever had in ANY restaurant. The waiter was the worst. Wandering around aimlessly without a clue of how to serve food. Management was made aware and did very little to help the situation. One star is too good for them. The experience was awful. Having a meal out should be pleasant not stressful.

We like this but lace very much. One of the last places you can still get noodles and duck sauce on the table without asking. The food is always very good but a little too expensive to go more than once a month for a “regular” couple. If I could afford it this would be my Sunday night spot.

For 20 years it's been my favorite with delicious food and friendly service. The other day. I went with a party of 5. I was seated , then the owner or manager told us to get up . That table was reserved. We were sat there by one of the server's. So we weren't going to move. I asked this manager or owner , " do you want us to leave" ? He's response was unbelievable. He said, " LEAVE". I'm a customer for 20 years and that's how I was talked to. That was the end of that restaurant for us and everyone I can tell about the treatment I was given . The only one I felt bad about, was the waiter who I'm very friendly with. Read the other reviews. Some of them talk about his wife or manager. So nasty !!! Do you really need to have a dining experience like that. NOT ME !!!

Highly successful restaurant mainly due to lack of competition. Nice area to eat in. Seemingly very intelligent ownership and management - but mundane American Chinese food that is in my opinion - priced too high. Good and well run carry out business, but again, average American Chinese food, not always good to the taste buds.

Not to mention when I asked if I can get vegetable fried rice instead of pork fried rice I was told no .

Up Charged $8 for fried rice when online it says $2 per plate. Then they tried to lie to my wife about it not being their website when she said the price it shows online. She called the number on the website and the phone next to the guy rang. He then said “I can’t control what’s on there.” Him being the owner mind you. Real great establishment you guys got going over there. Don’t waste your money here on garbage food and owners that will lie straight to a customer’s face.

My friend and I went there last night. When we put our name down on the list we were told it was two people in front of us. We could see clearly it was very busy. We decided to stay since the lady said there was only two people in front of us. As people were coming in I could see that people were going to the owner the female owner. Because they thought that they could get an early without waiting. And one couple did. Two people, a older man and an older lady. Walked in after my friend and I had already waited about 45 minutes. And sat right down. She put them in the middle of the restaurant with a table of four. And said they had a reservation. I said to her you said that only a party of four can make reservations. When I said that to the owner she was very defensive. I said so you can’t change the rule for one and not for all. That is not fair. After we sat down we waited a long time for our dinner then by the time we got that we waited a long time for our dessert. When we finally got the check I put my credit card up. One of the waiters came by and picked it up. Now mind you there was only two waiters. And two bus boys. In this whole restaurant. Then we sat there for I don’t know about 15 minutes. Waiting for them to bring my card back. My girlfriend years ago had a bad experience with that, so of course both of us were concerned. When I went upfront and asked for my card they had no clue where my card was. So finally a customer from the back room comes up and says ma’am is this your card? I was so upset that they gave my card to a total stranger. It was the worst experience in over 27 years that we have had . We have been going to this Chinese restaurant for years. My friend and I worked at Wallace back in the late 80s early 90s. So this was a go to lunch for us. After last night I don’t think I will ever go back there again. It’s a shame that they were willing to run the restaurant with the lack of help. Just to make money. And put the reputation in jeopardy just to serve people for the money. Very sad what restaurants have turned into lately. Oh, p.s we were there for almost 3hours. Should of walked out a lot earlier.

Helen the owner is a nasty woman, and if I could give zero stars I would! She has no idea what the definition of customer service is. I politely called to ask about my Uber Eats order. She screamed at me and said she has no idea what I ordered because she cannot see the Uber orders. I know this is untrue, because I’ve made calls to other restaurants in the past when I have ordered Uber eats, and they see my order right away. How on Earth can the kitchen prepare the UberEats meal if the restaurant cannot see the order? She refused to steam my chicken instead of frying it because again, she screamed at me saying she couldn’t see my order, and then hung up on me. I have always been a good customer at this restaurant, and I will never eat there again. You should not either!

Horrible experience. To begin the owner is a nasty woman! Do not expect to be seated without your entire party present! They do not take names either if you wait. Aside from that the portions are sparse in comparison to a lot of other chinese restaurants in the area and especially for the price. I have never had a combo meal all served on one plate and with the eggroll not coming before the meal. The eggroll was small and soggy - not crispy as it should have been. The rice was half a scoop and ribs dry - and do not ask for extra sauce they ration that as well. Service was horrendous. We had to call busboy to come and fill water glasses 3 times and for more tea! They had people seated in front of fire exit which is a hazard. Should have called the fire inspector on them. Will never go back!

The veggies are super fresh, cooked to perfection with a slight crisp, not at all soggy overcooked or frozen, got actual gourmet mushrooms in my dish! We ordered take out and got a nice unexpected surprise, oolong teabags and......the fortune cookies, fried wontons in the bags were nice, crispy and fresh unlike the competitors. It’s the little details that count, we highly recommend and best quality in the area. I'm a vegetarian, and my father orders from there often... Every time I ask if they can make or have a certain vegetable they automatically tell me NO I CANT DO FOR YOU. 1. Customer service is key to a successful business and a returning customer. You are in a prominent area of Delray Beach with millions of other Chinese restaurants around and you can't steam some certain vegetables for a customer that spends 100's of dollars with you? Unbelievable. I don't know if there's new owners or whatnot but the service and food quality has gone downhill.

The food is “Scrumptious”, and the service at lunchtime is wonderful, at night there are a couple servers who could be more attentive, but I think they are new, I gave “My favorite Chinese Restaurant” in South Florida 4 stars, because of the Hot and Sour soup, which is very good tasting, however for some reason they seem to SKIMP on the ingredients, and always use American mushrooms instead of SHITAKE, and trace amounts of tofu, not enough sesame oil, or Chinese wood ear and can no longer find the egg, wish they would add a little sherry with lotus flowers, but beggars can’t be choosers lol! All in all, they are FABULOUS, you shouldn’t be disappointed, unless you are simply an old grouch who is impossible to please, even with the best.

Went to go sit down and have dinner at 9 in the place closes at 9:30 so they wouldn't let us sit and made us get takeout.... meanwhile about 10 people were still sitting at tables eating and they could have well easily served us is it only takes five or eight minutes to make a Chinese food dish. Very disappointed and even the takeout food was a small portion.

Food was good, but the menu was a Holiday menu and expensive. People left when they checked the holiday menu and were not permitted to order from the regular menu. The lobster we ordered was supposed to be a 1 and 1/2 lb. lobster, but you could not tell because it was served cut up in pieces, not a whole lobster, no claws, no body, no legs. The price was quite high for a cut up lobster, even though it included soup and dessert.

Went with friends who rave about this restaurant. It is very busy but I don't know why. I ordered the twice cooked pork which they state is spicy, not at all. Came with choice of soup, I ordered the hot & sour, fair, an egg roll, and pork fried rice. My wife ordered the chicken with eggplant, she got the wonton soup, also just ok. Having lived in the area for over 20 years and never have been, we won't return.

We ate here tonight, Saturday August 5, 2018, a party of four. I ordered what they call Triple Imperial, which contains shrimp, scallops, chicken, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, red peppers and snow peas in a brown sauce. I started eating it and realized there were no bamboo shoots or mushrooms, instead broccoli and cauliflower, both of which I hate. I called the manager over and he couldn't have cared less! I asked for the mushrooms and bamboo shoots and he pointed to what was on my plate and said that is what I got and walked away. If I did not have guests with me, I would have refused to pay and let him call the police. Also, when we arrived I asked for a round table and he said the round tables were for a party of five or six and refused to give us one. Five minutes later another party of four came in and he gave them a round table. Also, for what I paid for this meal, it was not worth it. Two, possibly three scallops cut in slices, four medium sized shrimp and skimpy slices of chicken, for something like $26.95.

Thank you for packing the food so neatly so it doesn't spill. Spicy Cashew Chicken lunch combo is our favorite.

We arrived at 8:45 with no idea (no open/close times posted) that they closed at 9p. on a Saturday night. I asked the manager if they were still open and he said no problem and for us to come in. We ordered and were served fairly promptly considering they had large take-out orders before ours. My daughter's sweet-sour chicken came with pickles and pineapple that tasted like pickles. What happened to green peppers? Why not pineapple that taste like pineapple? Halfway through our meal I asked for gravy for my egg foo young. Our waiter said the kitchen had closed and gravy thrown out. Since I was going to have leftover food and no gravy, I asked if I could come by tomorrow to get gravy. He skeptically replied, um...you'll have to ask the manager. He could have said he would ask the manager also he should have asked if I would need more gravy (bowl on table nearly empty), 2 pieces of foo young left on platter and he knew they were closing...inattentive and we were his only customer. . Then, the sweeping and fill ups started and we felt like we should leave whether or not we had finished our meal. I believe the manager who said come on in should have added that the restaurant closed in 15 minutes at which point we would have said thank you and we would be back another evening. Now, we will not be back...ever.

We had a reservation for New Year's Eve and arrived on time. The owner told our party we could not sit together and if we didn't like it to leave. We thought making a reservation we would sit together. Who knew that the restaurant would have a different definition. We were also surprised by a menu just for New Year's Eve which of course was limited and way more expensive which would have been fine had they shared that with us when we made the reservation or when they called us to confirm the reservation. We left after being seated at a table way too small and deciding they didn't deserve our business.

OMG what a disaster! I made a reservation for NewYears Eve for 9 people. She gladly took the reservation and even called that day to make sure we were still coming. Well, when we arrived we were told to split up the group or go elsewhere. No joke. When we told her she needed to honor our reservation she put us a table for 6 possibly 8 but no way 9. She we were very upset to say the least. We were then given an menu where the prices were almost double and a minimum of $20 per person. I feel we should have been told when the reservation was made. So, if you want to be mistreated then that is the place to go. We will never go back! Our entire group left and went elsewhere.

I love coming here! Especially when it's not "season." Our waiter, Michael, was fun, efficient and his service was outstanding. We had chicken and shrimp pad thai which was tasty and served hot. The chicken with mixed vegetables was deliciously sauced with plenty of veggies. We had an order spring rolls while we waited for our dinner and they were served piping hot! The food was very good and Michael made our visit great as always!

We love their food and quick service. We moved to Delray back in 1997 and have been enjoying their food ever since. In the summer, the family shuts the business down for a week or two every year as they deserve too. During that time we sample other Chinese Restaurants in the area and no one compares. We are so happy we found them and recommend them to all.

Do yourself a favor and don't EVER eat here. Their sub-par food is way over priced, probably twice the amount of other comparable Chinese restaurants. It's run by a husband and wife team, and the wife is extremely rude, arrogant and miserable. I noticed a distinct pattern after reading some of their other reviews on Yelp - this woman has continually ruined the customer experience at their establishment. We recently ordered a $50 meal, which I had to pick up because they were "too busy" to deliver. After arriving home with the food we realized the meals were completely different then what I had ordered. I called back and the wife answered (she had taken my order over the phone just 30 minutes prior). She told me that I was wrong, and that I had indeed ordered what they gave me. She screamed at and insulted me, and told me that she doesn't have time for me because she had other more important orders to take care of. All I had asked was for her to either reimburse me for the wrong orders, or to make the correct orders and I would drive back again to pick them up. She said the only way she would give me the correct orders was if I brought the wrong orders back (was she planning on serving them to someone else?!). I told her that we had already eaten a piece out of the meals, which was how we determined that they were incorrect. She then laughed at me and refused to remake my order. I feel robbed and utterly insulted. Their blatant lack of customer service ensures that we never patronize them again. Mediocre, overpriced food and lying, insulting management.

Best Chinese food in Delray and we've tried a bunch of places. I only wish we had found it sooner than 5 years after we moved here! They have the best egg rolls with a crispy crust and no sogginess, great hot & sour soup and much more. We haven't eaten at the restaurant yet but I'm sure we will eventually.

Called to place an order for delivery and the woman who answered became angry with me because my address is not in a community or development. She then proceeded to tell me that my address was outside their delivery range (which it isnt) and hung up on me immediately after. I dont care how good the food might be, service still matters.
